The CDL Truck Driver - Materials & Heavy Haul is responsible for safely transporting construction materials, equipment, and oversized or overweight loads to and from job sites while complying with DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate Class A commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, lowboys, flatbeds, end dumps, belly dumps, and heavy haul configurations
- Transport construction materials, machinery, and oversized/overweight loads safely and efficiently
- Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, tarps, and other restraint systems
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and report maintenance needs
- Follow DOT regulations, route plans, permits, and escort requirements
- Maintain accurate logs, delivery tickets, and inspection reports
- Communicate with dispatch, job site supervisors, and customers
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and keep equipment clean and serviceable
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including PPE and job site safety rules
- Valid Class A CDL with clean driving record
- 1-2 years Heavy Haul and/or construction materials hauling experience
- 1-2 years End and Belly Dump experience
- Ability to operate manual and automatic transmissions
- Knowledge of load securement and weight distribution
- Strong understanding of DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, nights, or weekends
- Ability to travel
- Tanker (N)
- Oversize/Overweight hauling experience
- Loader Experience
- Knowledge of Operation of Equipment
- Hazardous Materials (H) - if hauling regulated materials
- Doubles/Triples (T) - if applicable
- MSHA Certification
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and perform physical tasks such as chaining and tarping
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Frequent climbing, bending, and standing
