Transportation Department Training Specialist
Salary: $20.09 per hour - commensurate with experience
Terms/Benefits: School Year
12 month position - 8.0 hours per day

General Information:Works under supervision of Director of Transportation to perform specialized training and to communicate safety information as it relates to the Transportation Department.
Qualifications & Requirements:- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of bus driving experience
- Possession of an Arizona Class B Commercial Driver's License
- Bilingual preferred
- Previous experience training adult learners preferred
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Prior completion of college level coursework preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Must possess strong human relations skills and the ability to supervise others.
- Must possess a strong understanding of Microsoft Office programs.
- Must possess an ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff and community members.
- Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
- Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
- Must possess strong time management skills.
- Must meet all Arizona school bus driver training requirements within three months of date of hire.
- Assumes primary responsibility in responding to personal injury and vehicle accidents and completes on scene investigations in the absence of the director.
- Prepares and submits reports to District personnel and Arizona Trust as required.
- Investigates customer service complaints related to safety issues.
- Supervises bus driver trainees and others during safety related courses and/or in emergency response situations.
- Assists in screening potential driver candidates.
- Assists in developing school bus driver training programs consistent with Arizona requirements.
- Coordinates training schedules to include school bus monitor and van driver training.
- Conducts classroom and behind the wheel training for school bus drivers.
- Assists in the evaluation of driver trainees.
- Processes necessary training records.
- Provides refresher training as directed by Transportation Management.
- Assists with the development and implementation of student school bus safety programs to include school bus evacuation drills.
- Performs morning dispatch duties in directing drivers and monitors.
