DescriptionFunction:
Coordinates daily pantry operations, volunteers, neighbor service, product distribution, and inventory at an assigned CFB location while ensuring safe, dignified, and uninterrupted service in support of CFB's mission.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Trains, coordinates, and oversees volunteers, ensuring they work within the parameters of commodity program policy and procedure and CFB's core values.
- Ensures a welcoming, dignified, and respectful experience and environment for clients, volunteers, and staff that aligns with workplace safety rules and CFB's core values.
- Oversee the daily setup, training, and delivery of pantry line items to neighbors while actively supporting pantry volunteers.
- Oversees the movement and setup of products on the pantry line, coordinates the sorting and preparation of bread and produce, and communicates product limits by family size to volunteers.
- Ensures uninterrupted service by cross-training as frontline staff to manage distribution lines and neighbor intake during peak hours and volunteer shortages.
- Provides neighbors with basic information and referrals to available CFB and community resources and uses appropriate de-escalation techniques, referring complex or safety-related concerns to the Pantry Supervisor or designated site leader.
- Coordinates the daily setup of the pantry line distribution of USDA commodity foods and donated items to serve neighbors during active distribution hours.
- Coordinates daily warehouse operations, maintaining proper inventory levels, product placement, and organizing items within the warehouse and walk-in coolers/freezers.
- Utilizes a forklift and powered pallet jack to safely move and rotate heavy food items and USDA commodities between the warehouse, coolers, and freezers.
- Strictly supports the First-Expired, First-Out (FEFO) rotation of both perishable and non-perishable food items.
- Responsible for daily site inventory control, end-of-day counts, accurate P2 database data entry, and regular communication with the Pantry Supervisor or designated site leaders and CFB Warehouse and Allocations team regarding product needs, discrepancies, and inventory concerns.
- Responsible for picking up donated items from designated grocery rescue retail stores as assigned; inspecting, documenting, and accurately receiving donations in P2; and promptly reporting product-quality or quantity concerns.
- Ensures all newly donated items are correctly and promptly placed in the refrigerator, freezer, or non-perishable storage sections.
- Restocks items on pantry line with grocery items, miscellaneous donations (e.g., Amazon items), and other supplies.
- Follows required food-safety practices, including temperature control, safe product handling and storage, sanitation, and reporting damaged, recalled, expired, or otherwise unsafe products.
- Delivers client-facing services and performs program duties in full compliance with CFB and DES program guidelines, including periodic compliance checks and meticulous records maintenance.
- Performs standard janitorial and custodial duties both inside and outside the premises to guarantee strict compliance with local health department codes and AIB standards.
- Responsible for sorting and removing recyclable materials to their appropriate locations daily.
- Continuously applies professional experience and perspective to recommend and support approved improvements to pantry operations, volunteer coordination, and the overall customer service approach.
- Cross-training at alternative sites to provide operational coverage and support during staff shortages.
- Attends all-staff meetings, town halls, and organizational fundraising events as needed to support team cohesion and community initiatives.
