This is an entry-level opportunity designed for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in parts sales, customer service, warehouse operations, inventory management, and parts identification. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, willing to learn, and takes pride in providing excellent service to customers and technicians.
As a Parts Counter / Warehouse Apprentice, you will learn the day-to-day operations of a professional parts department while working alongside experienced team members. This position provides an opportunity to develop valuable skills in both the parts counter and warehouse while building a strong foundation for a long-term career with Arnold Machinery.
Essential Job Functions- Receive, inspect, and put away incoming parts and stock orders.
- Pull and prepare parts orders for customers and the service department.
- Pick, pack, audit, and ship merchandise.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries and truckloads of merchandise.
- Learn to identify and locate construction equipment parts.
- Assist with maintaining accurate inventory.
- Complete cycle counts and assist with physical inventory.
- Learn to process parts orders and backorders.
- Assist with purchase orders and vendor orders as training progresses.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse.
- Assist the Parts Manager and other team members as needed.
- Answer phones and assist customers when required.
- Learn company procedures, product knowledge, and warehouse best practices.
- Parts identification and product knowledge.
- Warehouse receiving and shipping procedures.
- Inventory control and cycle counting.
- Parts order fulfillment.
- Computer and inventory systems.
- Safe material-handling practices.
- Forklift and other equipment operation, as applicable.

- Ability to obtain forklift certification through company-provided training, if required.
- Ability to drive a company vehicle when required and properly authorized.
- Previous warehouse, parts, construction, or equipment experience is helpful butnot required.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, grasp, push, pull, and move throughout the warehouse.
- Ability to safely lift and move parts and materials.
- Ability to work in and around equipment, including climbing ladders or accessing equipment as needed.
- Ability to read work tickets, parts information, and computer screens.
- Ability to communicate by phone, radio, and in person.
- Ability to lift up to50–60 pounds regularly and heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- Ability to perform physical warehouse tasks safely and efficiently.
The Parts Warehouse Apprentice may work in a warehouse, office, and equipment environment with varying temperatures and noise levels. The position may involve exposure to equipment, fumes, odors, dust, and other warehouse or machinery-related conditions.
Basic Qualifications- High school diploma/GED preferred, but not required.
- No previous parts or warehouse experience required.
- Reliable and willing to learn.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Able to perform the essential physical functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Previous warehouse, retail, mechanical, automotive, construction, or customer service experience.
- Basic computer experience.
- Familiarity with hand tools or mechanical equipment.
- Interest in construction equipment, heavy machinery, or parts.
- Previous forklift or material-handling experience.
