Travel Seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in WA state for the 2026-27 school year. You'll make a difference in kids' lives everyday while investing in yourself on this lucrative travel assignment. Situated south of Seattle, Tukwila is the metro area’s most accessible, affordable, and multicultural destination.
To qualify for roles in teaching, we’re looking for previous experience in a special education setting, whether it’s resource or self-contained classrooms, 1:1 scenarios or situations where you’re with children with externalizing behaviors. We’re also looking for experience working with IEPs (individualized education plans), lesson planning, working collaboratively with faculty and parents and a strong desire to connect with your students.

Assessments:
Conduct Functional Vision Assessments (FVA) and Learning Media Assessments (LMA) to determine how a student uses their vision in educational settings and identify their primary literacy media (e.g., Braille, large print, or auditory). IEP Development:
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary Individualized Education Program (IEP) team to develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals. Specialized Instruction:
Teach the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC) , which includes compensatory skills, sensory-motor skills, independent living skills, and assistive technology. Material Adaptation:
Modify and format classroom materials into accessible formats, such as Braille, tactile graphics, or enlarged print. Consultation &
Collaboration:
Serve as the vision expert on the educational team. Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Special Education with a specialized endorsement or focus on Visual Impairments. Certification:
Valid state teaching license (Special Education or General Education) along with a TVI credential. A CDE Certificate of Braille Competency or equivalent National Literary Braille Competency test is frequently required. Technology Proficiency:
Working knowledge of both low- and high-tech assistive devices, such as screen readers, magnifiers, Braille printers, and built-in accessibility features on tablets and computers You can expect to earn approximately $750 per week based on experience If you qualify for stipends, you’ll enjoy tax free per diem that covers you throughout the school year!
