Location: Tukwila, WA (100% Onsite)
Position Type: Contract (12 Months, Full-Time)
Pay Rate: $57/hr. on W2
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
About the Role
Join Materials and Processes Engineering (M&PE) group — a global research and development team implementing innovative technologies across commercial and defense aerospace programs (including 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, KC-46, B1B, and P-8).
As a Materials, Processes & Physics (MP&P) Engineer, you will support the Puget Sound Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and Measurement Systems team across the entire product lifecycle — from R&D to active airframe certification, qualification, and in-service support.
Key Responsibilities
- Procedure & Standard Development: Develop NDE procedures and design reference standards to support airline customer maintenance and inspection needs.
- Technical Documentation: Write engineering specifications, work procedures, and technical documentation required to meet program and customer goals.
- Qualifications & Audits: Assist with the qualification of new tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes; conduct routine tests and supplier audits.
- Emerging Technologies: Support the evaluation of emerging NDE and measurement technologies for enterprise application.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement corrective/preventive actions while integrating EH&S, LEAN, and Quality principles across work areas and labs.
- Project Management: Track cost, technical parameters, and schedule requirements using standard project management tools.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
- Experience: 1+ years of post-degree engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- NDE / NDI Systems: Hands-on experience with ultrasonics, eddy current, or general non-destructive inspection methods.
- CAD Tools: Familiarity with CATIA, Solid Works, or similar 3D modeling systems.
- Domain Knowledge: Prior background in aviation, aerospace, or materials science (metals/composites).
- Failure Analysis: Understanding of basic analytical techniques to determine tool, material, or process failures.
