Label Compliance Specialist

The Label Compliance Specialist supports the accuracy and compliance of food product labels, packaging artwork, specification sheets, and related labeling documentation. This position reviews label content for alignment with approved formulas, ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutrition facts panels, product claims, prep instructions, and internal standards. Working under the direction of the Regulatory Compliance Manager, the Label Compliance Specialist coordinates with Regulatory, Quality Assurance, R&D, Marketing, Operations, and third-party vendors to help ensure labeling information is complete, accurate, and compliant before products are released or updated.

This role is a developing compliance position with a narrower scope and lower level of independent regulatory interpretation than the Regulatory Specialist.

• Review product labels, packaging artwork, proofs, tags, prep instructions, and related marketing materials for accuracy against approved specifications and company standards.
• Verify label elements including product name, net weight, ingredient statement, allergen declaration, nutrition facts panel, bioengineered food disclosure, claims, cooking instructions, storage statements, and distributor information.
• Support the creation, maintenance, and organization of product specification sheets for company brands and customer-facing documentation.
• Compare artwork and labeling information to approved formulas, vendor documents, nutrition data, allergen information, and internal specifications to identify discrepancies.
• Route labeling questions, potential compliance concerns, and required escalations to the Regulatory Compliance Manager or Regulatory Specialist for review and direction.
• Track label review status, outstanding information, revision history, approvals, and open action items using department tools and tracking documents.
• Coordinate with Marketing, R&D, Quality Assurance, Operations, Supply Chain, and third-party vendors to gather information needed for label and specification reviews.
• Assist with maintaining labeling files, artwork records, regulatory documentation, vendor documentation, and other compliance records in an organized and retrievable manner.
• Support factory-level Quality Assurance teams by providing labeling guidance, documentation, and follow-up support for label-related questions, corrections, and implementation needs.
• Support updates to labels and specifications resulting from formula changes, supplier changes, packaging changes, regulatory updates, or internal process improvements.
• Assist with data entry and verification in labeling, specification, and project management systems including Genesis, Access, Ziflow, Zoho, and other department tools as assigned.
• Prepare clear comments, redlines, and follow-up notes for artwork revisions and label corrections.
• Assist with reviewing consumer-facing and customer-facing information for consistency with approved labeling and specifications.
• Monitor assigned projects and communicate delays, missing information, or potential risks to the Regulatory Compliance Manager in a timely manner.
• Perform other labeling, documentation, quality, and compliance support duties as assigned.
