Geotechnical Special Inspector – Tukwila, Washington
Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is actively seeking a Geotechnical Special Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. team in Tukwila, Washington. What you’ll do- Perform a variety of testing, project‑specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks
- Read and interpret plans and specifications
- Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
- Make detailed observations and give the interpretation of results
- Train/supervise and perform complex assignments and work tasks
- Attend project meetings alone without supervision
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
- Communicate effectively with client and project teams

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications- 5+ years relevant geotechnical inspection, quality assurance and quality control experience on transportation/heavy civil projects
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record
- Basic Math, calculator, and computer skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English
- Ability to read plans and specifications
- Ability to work off shifts and overtime
- Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently, occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication
- Ability to kneel, squat, and climb occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Certifications such as ICC, ACI, Nuclear Gauge, WABO, WAQTC, and/or CWI
