Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions to many of the world’s top-recognized brands and companies, is actively seeking a Geotechnical Special Inspector to join our Professional Services Industries, Inc. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.
What are we looking for?
The Geotechnical Special Inspector is responsible for conducting jobsite inspections and materials testing throughout the Sea Tac Area.
Salary & Benefits Information:
The base wage or salary range for this position is $35 - $50/HR. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.

What you’ll do:
- Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and inspection duties under general supervision
- Utilize drawings, specifications, and diagrams
- Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks
- Read and interpret plans and specifications
- Maintain and calibrate standard equipment
- Make detailed observations and gives the interpretation of results
- Train/supervise and perform complex assignments and work tasks
- Attend project meetings alone without supervision
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results
- Communicate effectively with client and project teams
Minimum
Requirements & Qualifications:
- 5+ years relevant geotechnical inspection, quality assurance and quality control experience on transportation/heavy civil projects
- Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record
- Must have Basic Math, Calculator, and Computer Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be fluent in English
- Must be able to read plans and specifications
- Must be able to work off shifts and overtime
- Computer skills, especially familiarity with MS Office applications. are necessary
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
- Ability to kneel, squat and climb occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One or more of the following certifications: ICC, ACI, Nuclear Gauge, WABO, WAQTC, and/or CWI
