Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops and promotes a sales culture, builds sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge, provides a clean, organized environment, and grows guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

• Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly, respond to questions quickly and courteously, assist guests with their video gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend additional items, and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop.
• Support the visual and operational elements of the store, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
• Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and return transactions using the POS computer system.
• Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, answer calls professionally, and, when appropriate, elevate issues to the Store Manager.
• Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
• Assist the Store Manager with setting guest‑service expectations, training associates on company policies, and ensuring onboarding, job training, and compliance training is completed before shifts.
• Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback to the Store Manager, and address unsatisfactory performance.
• Provide recognition and feedback to associates, input written feedback into Workday or HR service management system.
• Supervise staffing levels, ensuring optimal guest service at all times.
• Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify associates are paid for all time worked.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and merchandised store areas per company guidelines.
• Fulfill and ship Omni‑Channel orders daily.
• Implement inventory control and loss‑prevention practices, inspect packages at closing, and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
• Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete administrative duties.
• Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and keep the sales floor organized.
• Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits accurately.
• Verify shipments, record discrepancies, and conduct merchandise inventories.
• Process defectives, recalls, and stock pulls accurately.
• Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety, addressing hazardous situations immediately.
• Maintain store records, ensure manuals are up to date.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders when the Store Manager is absent.
• Consistently adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
• Adhere to all opening and closing procedures.

• Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
• At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
• At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
• Video game knowledge preferred.
