Overview
Peer Counselor (Parent Partner) openings serving youth and families in Burien, WA and Tukwila, WA. Services in homes, in the community, and at an office site. Relocation assistance is available. Based in Tukwila, serving South King County with Burien serving Spanish-speaking families. The team focuses on engaging families and delivering wrap-around behavioral health services.
Responsibilities- Peer Counselors (Parent Partners) use their personal experience as a parent of a youth who has received behavioral health, child welfare, complex medical coordination, or juvenile justice services to build support with families.
- Collaborate, provide support, and help facilitate Family Behavioral Health Services for youth and their families.
- Work as part of a team to ensure parents voice their perspectives and that the team uses those perspectives in treatment planning.
- Aim to help youth, parents, and families gain confidence to partner on a recovery journey and maintain hope after formal behavioral health services are completed.
- Partner with families and community services to achieve long-term safety and stability in the community.
- Schedule flexibility to meet the needs of youth and families; services provided in community settings and family homes. Based out of Tukwila/Burien site.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 21 or older.
- Personal lived experience as a parent of a child who has received community or mental health services within the past ten years.
- Ability to drive to family homes with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record per CCS policy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to visually assess safety in family homes and the community.
- Availability to flex some work hours.
- Preference for a flexible schedule rather than a traditional 8-5, Monday–Friday, facility-based position.
- Demonstrated attitudes, knowledge, and skills to deliver culturally competent services in multi-cultural settings.
- Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
- Support and uphold the mission, beliefs, and values of Catholic Community Services and Catholic Housing Services.
- Starting Pay Range: $25.18 - $27.07 per hour
- First Responder pay: $75.00 per pay period (2 times per month)
- Bi-lingual fluency in Spanish and English: $100 - 200 per pay period (2 times per month) for service provision; tiered language stipend based on language proficiency and needs
- Ability to earn additional pay based on performance
- Daily and Weekly supervision with your Clinical Supervisor
