Senior Software Engineer – KC‑46 Software Engineering

Tukwila, Washington – Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

Lead the Aerial Refueling Software team focused on Vision/Human Interface software, driving leadership, quality, process improvement, and tooling.

• Oversee the design, development, test, and maintenance of non‑embedded software throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Oversee the review, analysis, and translation of customer requirements into initial design of software products.
• Review the development, maintenance, enhancement and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
• Oversee development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products.
• Oversee debugging and resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
• Oversee handling of user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis.
• Oversee research and implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
• Lead development, establishment, monitoring and improvement of software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
• Review planning, execution and documentation of software research and development projects.
• Consult on software domains, system‑specific issues, processes and regulations.
• Oversee software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
• Oversee tracking and evaluation of software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance with project plans and industry standards.

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline.
• Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
• 5+ years of experience in graphics/human interface software.
• 10+ years of experience in hardware and software integration.
  
  Experience with Machine Learning (ML) vision processing algorithms.
• Experience with DO‑178B/C certification process.

• 14+ years of related work experience (Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline) OR 18+ years of directly related experience OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience.
• Experience with Software Engineering principles including Software Architecture and Design, and Software Life Cycle Management.
• Experience in Tanker Software.
• Experience in Autonomous Air‑to‑Air Refueling Software.
• Experience as a Technical Lead Engineer (TLE), Software Lead, and/or Software Architect on a complex software development project/program.

Competitive base pay and variable compensation. Pay range: $211,650 – $286,350 based on experience and qualifications.

Primarily 1st shift; alternate shifts may be required.

This is a union‑represented position.

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements; U.S. Person required.
