Lead Software Engineer – E‑7A Mission Team (Tukwila, WA)
Support Boeing Defense, Space & Security mission team focused on developing next‑generation Open Mission Software (OMS) for the USAF E‑7A and related airborne command and control platforms such as E‑3 AWACS, 767 AWACS, and 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft. Lead full software lifecycle activities as an Agile Product Owner and champion emerging development technologies.
Position Responsibilities- Lead design, development, and maintenance of software systems meeting stringent quality, safety, security, and certification standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and translate them into software requirements and models.
- Conduct and review software system‑level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities; lead mitigation efforts.
- Lead code reviews ensuring compliance with requirements and standards.
- Oversee test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution.
- Develop program documentation as needed.
- Monitor product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards.
- Lead software project management and assist with supplier management activities.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks relevant to software development.
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance (active within the past 24 months).
- 9+ years of experience with software development processes.
- 5+ years of experience designing and developing software using Python, C/C++, C#, and/or Java.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited engineering field or equivalent with 9+ related years of experience, or 13+ years of directly related experience, or 17+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with tactical data links (e.g., Link‑16).
- Experience with integrated ground and flight command, control, and communication systems.
- Experience in a customer‑facing role.
- Experience with MIL‑STD‑6016 systems and standards.
- Experience with MIL‑STD‑6040 systems and standards.
- Experience in software systems engineering within defense or aerospace sectors.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Position may require up to 10% travel.
- 100% onsite work required at one of the listed locations.
- Successful candidates must satisfy the company’s Conflict of Interest assessment.
