Fleet Technician Foreman

The City of Tukwila is seeking a Fleet Technician Foreman who will perform full‑journey level activities in troubleshooting, altering, maintaining, and repairing City equipment while also serving as a lead for crews working on multiple projects. The Foreman will provide guidance and direction to all Technicians assigned to repairs.

About the Fleet & Facilities Department

The Fleet & Facilities Department provides a fleet of vehicles and equipment with an operation maintenance and replacement program and to supply the City with adequate, safe, economical and on‑demand operational cars, trucks and specialty equipment. Services are provided through in‑house labor and contracted services. The current fleet consists of approximately 193 vehicles and 134 other pieces of equipment.

Salary Range
$7,849 - $9,539 per month. This position is represented by the Teamsters 763.
Note: We don’t typically hire at the top of the range.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serves as a lead to Technicians by planning, scheduling, assigning, and prioritizing work projects. Makes recommendations on Technicians leave requests and performance evaluations.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on vehicles, equipment, and heavy equipment; replaces air, hydraulic and anti‑lock brakes; repairs transmissions; works on electrical systems; repairs.
  • Ensures work projects are completed and carried out in compliance with policies and procedures; monitors crews; gathers bids for outside services; inventories and orders equipment, tools, materials, and supplies; completes and maintains records and logs for reports, service requests, materials and equipment used.
  • Receives and responds to call‑out requests; provides technical assistance on projects with other departments, contractors, and other City/State/Regional agencies.
