Fleet Maintenance Manager
Essential Functions:
1:
Fleet Operations & Asset Management
· Oversee the daily operations of a national fleet of approximately 300 vehicles.
· Manage vehicle assignments, licensing, registrations, insurance, fuel programs and documentation.
· Maintain accurate fleet records, including inventory, utilization, maintenance history, and lifecycle data.
· Develop and implement fleet replacement strategies based on cost, usage, and reliability.
2:Maintenance, Safety, and Compliance
· Oversee preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet reliability.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
· Partner with Safety on incident reporting, claims management, and corrective actions.
· Promote safe vehicle operation and adherence to company policies.
· Monitor fleet performance through key metrics, including utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, downtime, and total cost of ownership.
· Develop reports and dashboards to support operational decisions.
· Manage relationships with dealerships, repair vendors, leasing companies, and service providers.
· Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements while identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
· Assist with fleet budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation processes.
4:Employee & Operational Support
· Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet‑related employee needs, including vehicle issues, repairs, fuel cards, and compliance.
· Support vehicle onboarding, transfers, and offboarding.
· Collaborate with Operations, Project Managers, Service, Safety, Human Resources, Accounting, and field leadership to ensure employees have the vehicles and resources they need to perform their work safely and efficiently.
· Support both union and non‑union employees across multiple regions while ensuring fleet operations align with applicable collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), company policies, and operational requirements.
5:Process Improvement
· Develop and improve fleet policies, procedures, and reporting systems.
· Utilize fleet management software and telematics to improve visibility, accountability, and operational efficiency.
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations.
Qualifications andEducation:
· 5+ years of experience in fleet management, logistics, operations, or a related field.
· Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
· Experience managing mid‑to‑large fleets, preferably 200+ vehicles.
· Experience in construction, mechanical contracting, or field service environments preferred.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and fleet technology, including fleet management software, telematics platforms, and fuel management systems.
· Knowledge of vehicle maintenance, lifecycle management, and regulatory compliance.
· Familiarity with DOT and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience supporting union and non‑union work forces
· Fleet certification (e.g., CAFM) preferred but not required.
