Role Overview: Boeing Defense, Space & Security is seeking a Materials Management Specialist B to work with other Material Management Specialists to ensure that the shop, shop personnel, tool rooms and other customers are supplied with proper tools, equipment, and supplies.
Primary Responsibilities- Handle aircraft parts, tools and related hardware in receiving areas and ensure that the shop, tool rooms and customers are supplied with tools, equipment and supplies.
- Receive, sort, store, kit, inventory, issue, release, route, locate, coordinate, prepare and move materials (such as raw materials, tools, parts, drawings, equipment, surplus property and hazardous materials and waste) for one or more assigned areas.
- Support schedule revisions by coordinating the movement of all materials as required; perform unloading of vehicles and other material movement devices; check materials against orders and correct discrepancies.
- Accumulate and maintain accountability records and reports, relay availability and status for all processed materials.
- Operate electric powered elevating equipment, and perform all tasks involved in ordering, receiving, recording, storing, checking, issuing, shipping and releasing of tools, shop supplies, materials, machine accessories, special tools, tooling and support equipment.
- Use terminology related to stock tools and equipment; establish and adjust minimum and maximum requirements; set up inventory recording and control systems.
- Perform tasks requiring knowledge of tools and equipment in stock.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 35 lbs, frequent standing, reaching and turning; use PPE and follow safety procedures.
- Exposed to hazardous materials (aluminum, steel, plastics, fiberglass, graphite composites, radioactive signs, explosives, lubricants, solvents, wood splinters, saw dust); use appropriate tools and safety equipment.
- Operate shop equipment and information systems required for assigned tasks.
- Train and assist other employees with procedures.
- Check hardware and tools for damage, route broken or obsolete items to proper authority for disposition.
- Open containers, identify, weigh, and count contents; verify quality acceptance of incoming hardware.
- Prepare items for shipment, including coordination and documentation for flyaway, remote kits, vendor pickup and toolboxes.
- Clean and store hand tools, issue fasteners, kit, re-label, repackage, and mix materials; dress tool grinder wheels, cut drills, and reamers.
- 1+ years of experience in materials management, warehousing, supply support or a manufacturing environment.
- 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet navigation, e‑mail, Microsoft applications and other specialized computer applications.
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to walk constantly throughout the work shift (6+ hours) and carry or lift up to 25 pounds.
- Proficiency in reading, writing and speaking English.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to interact with internal customers and cross‑functional groups.
- Ability to work in a schedule‑driven, high‑volume production environment and adapt to schedule changes.
- Ability to read and interpret part numbers, labels, packing lists and simple technical documentation.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Location & Shift- Shifts available in Everett, WA and Tukwila, WA.
- 1st Shift in Everett, WA.
- 2nd Shift offered in Tukwila, WA.
This is an hourly position governed by the International Association of Machinists (IAM‑751) Collective Bargaining agreement.
