Overview

Role:
Courtesy Clerk at Vallarta Supermarkets. Provides excellent customer service at the check stand, bags groceries, assists customers with carry-out, and helps locate products. Responsible for collecting shopping carts, maintaining cleanliness in the store and parking lot, and performing custodial duties to keep facilities safe and welcoming.

• Greet all customers and team members and deliver service using Vallarta’s six steps of extraordinary service.
• Model Vallarta’s Core Values: customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and teamwork.
• Bag groceries according to Vallarta’s procedures and customer requests.
• Assist customers with carry-out service and locating products in the store.
• Perform accurate price checks as requested.
• Check and secure items at the bottom of shopping carts when trained.
• Proceed with "go-backs" by returning perishable and non-perishable items to shelves promptly.
• Safely gather shopping carts using a reflective vest and rope as trained.
• Assist with spills, clean-ups, restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and trash removal (if trained).
• Clean store perimeters, including cart corrals, parking lot, sidewalks, and receiving dock.
• Monitor and report building maintenance needs or safety hazards.
• Keep janitorial room organized and stocked with approved supplies (if trained).
• Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards at all times.
• Treat coworkers and customers respectfully at all times.
• Abide by all store rules, company policies, and the Employee Handbook.
• Report injuries, unsafe conditions, or misconduct to management.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

• Stand and walk constantly (6–8+ hours/day).
• Frequently bend neck/waist, squat, twist, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 40 lbs occasionally (e.g., dog food bags).
• Heaviest item required to carry: 40 lbs., up to 40 feet.
• Operate manual pallet jacks safely (buddy system required for pallets).
• Work near equipment/machinery and on uneven ground.
• Exposure to dust, gas, fumes, temperature, and humidity changes.
• Friendly, courteous personality with strong customer service skills.
• Ability to learn store product locations and support customers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must exhibit a responsible, professional, and positive attitude.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fast-paced retail front-end with direct customer interaction.
• Exposure to perishable products, cleaning supplies, and varying conditions.
• Collaborative, team-focused workplace.
• Must work a flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
