Job SummaryThe successful candidate will provide leadership to site materials coordination personnel at the project site to ensure that materials are provided on time and in sufficient quantity to support the completion of construction work. The role ensures accurate reporting of all materials required for work package installation, monitors work processes to guarantee timely and accurate distribution of materials to construction and/or subcontractor installation locations, develops project work‑hour estimates and monitors against approved budgets, and provides materials coordination support to project functional groups.
Job Duties- Supervises material requirements and personnel supporting the entire project, ensuring all field purchase requisitions are complete, correct, and entered into the procurement system in a timely manner.
- Provides status updates of large field purchase requisitions in weekly material management meetings.
- Develops material estimates for special projects and monitors the expenditure of materials purchased within an approved budget.
- Indoctrinates newly assigned Materials Coordinators to AEDC procurement requirements and procedures.
- Trains newly assigned Field Engineers on completing the Field Purchase Requisition s form to streamline procurement, storage, and inventory control.
- Assists the Materials Manager in interviewing potential new hires, developing personnel to field materials management requirements, and establishing long‑range personnel objectives.
- Continuously develops working knowledge of pricing, vendors, special handling, and other commodity‑group specifics.
- Ensures adherence to the Material Responsibility Matrix and maintains daily communication with all phases of requisition approval.
- Serves as the focal point and subject matter expert for acquisition of all materials, rentals, and outside services required.
- Implements planned construction activities and work‑packaging structure on the project through coordination with field engineering, construction, and/or subcontractors and project controls.
- Implements planned inventory control mechanisms, including updates to engineers of material on hand and disposition if necessary.
- Participates in construction and/or subcontractor planning meetings to remain fully aware of installation plans and priorities.
- Coordinates with warehouse personnel for materials to be issued directly to the installation area or controlled in storage at the warehouse.
- Serves as subject matter expert for materials stored in the AEDC warehouse, providing details on item description, quantities on hand, location, purchase order, and any related issues.
- Enters work requests and material demands for moving material from warehouse storage to the construction site.
- Ensures compliance with PPE requirements in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of progressive, relevant experience, or a combination of relevant education and experience equivalent in value.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access the AEDC local area network.
- Current U.S. Citizenship required.
- Advanced knowledge of field procurement operations related to receipt, storage, and control of materials on a project.
- Working knowledge of field engineering disciplines, work processes, and deliverables produced.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of applicable AEDC policies, instructions, procurement procedures, and guidelines.
- Basic skill in supervising workload distribution and execution of work.
- Effective communication with supervisors of other project functional groups, primarily engineering, construction, and project management.
