Environmental Specialist II HazWaste

Responsibilities

• Execute a Hazardous Waste Management Program that achieves and maintains compliance and meets all requirements of the Hazardous Waste Storage permit.
• RCRA - Resource Conservation Recovery Act. Handling and management of solid waste from point of generation to final disposal.
• Interface with on-site waste generators to develop solutions to technical problems associated with hazardous waste management.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to waste generators for adherence to on-site and off-site waste acceptance criteria.
• Oversee base-wide accumulation points to include the proper storage, labeling and inspection to include written records documentation requirements.
• Conducts sampling of various drums, equipment, tanks, soil or waste piles generated from testing and maintenance processes.
• Interpret laboratory analytical data and characterize material for disposal in accordance with applicable regulations and disposal/treatment facilities waste acceptance criteria.
• Package, label, and handle hazardous waste/material.
• Prepares shipping papers/records and manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Verifies and performs all necessary safety checks, compliance checks and final inspections of all packages prior to transport to ensure compliance with DOT, DOE, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related science or technical field.
• 3-5 years job related experience including Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). for shipping/hauling hazardous waste/materials.
• ESOH-MIS.
• Valid driver's license.
