Cimarron is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator to support TOS II at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The role will be part of the construction team assisting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The selected candidate will oversee and direct field construction activities for assigned craft, ensuring work complies with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates. This position requires knowledge of the assigned work, the ability to appreciate and resolve complex situations, and proficiency in directing foremen to meet or exceed project objectives.
Candidates must be available for any shift and may work flexible hours based on work priorities. The assignment is expected to last less than 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
- Prepare both high‑level and detailed cost estimates for capital and service projects.
- Lead estimate reviews and present findings to all levels of management and client.
- Provide technical and operational supervision to assigned personnel.
- Review design scope, collect and analyze data, and develop estimates in coordination with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with engineers, subject matter experts, and outside contractors to ensure overall accuracy.
- Identify project requirements regarding time, labor, and material costs, including escalation factors.
- Read design documents and other applicable records to prepare estimates.
- Identify risk items and assign risk levels within the project scope.
- Review vendor offers and subcontractor quotes.
- Perform cost and price analysis to establish price reasonableness.
- Maintain thorough records of all project documentation, including estimate basis and assumptions.
- Develop cost models and templates for pricing estimates.
- Review estimates for technical accuracy to ensure quality and integrity.
- Develop and maintain a lessons‑learned database.
- Wear company‑issued PPE in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Only U.S. citizens are eligible due to facility security requirements.
- Must complete a pre‑employment background check, breath alcohol test, and drug screening, including testing for marijuana use.
- Position is safety‑sensitive and requires DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
- Must obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
- Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 12 years of progressive and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate‑to‑advanced understanding of estimating core processes with minimal direction.
- Knowledge of estimate types, classifications, and components, including detail level estimates and design packages.
- Skill in interpreting engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and financial reports.
- Familiarity with project management principles.
- Thorough understanding of cost index and escalation projection sources.
- Experience contributing to risk assessments.
- Strong verbal and written communication, presentation skills, and ability to address all levels of management and client.
- Capability to work independently or in a team within a dynamic environment.
- Strong critical thinking, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with estimating software is helpful.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, or Construction Management.
