Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Technician (Data Center Operator) supporting TOS II at Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) aboard Arnold AFB, TN. The Engineering Technical Specialist will operate and maintain the United States Air Force Test Operations data systems, manning the Data Center where data servers and storage for test facility data reside. The role involves operating data acquisition and storage equipment, monitoring and backing up recorded data, and serving as a security custodian for the data center.
This position will be deployed to the Propulsion Test Facilities but may be reassigned based on workload and mission needs.
- Support the efforts of engineers, technicians, and technologists in technical work within an assigned discipline.
- Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
- Perform non-routine and complex assignments independently in test data centers and other areas as required. Typical duties include:
- Operating data acquisition and recording computers running Windows and Linux.
- Managing the recording and storage of test data in a data center environment.
- Preparing input data and using computer programs for solution of technical problems.
- Recording, processing, transmission, and archival of test data.
- Performing local system and test data backups and migrating backup data to mass storage for offsite backup and disaster recovery.
- Providing user support and troubleshooting associated with data recording, processing, transmission and archival.
- Operating air–gap computer workstations to validate external media safety before use on production systems.
- Performing basic hardware tasks such as replacing hard disks, patching fiber optic and network cabling.
- Using, writing, and updating work instructions for critical data center processes.
- Developing and maintaining the inventory system for operational supply inventory.
- Serving as security custodian of data center(s) and ensuring computer room physical security requirements are implemented.
- Assist engineers in reviewing and recommending action on client requests for engineering change orders and obtaining required approvals.
- Wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other related duties as required.
