Structural Engineer - Intermediate Level

Position Summary

Advanced Solutions Group is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead and manage structural projects within a multi‑disciplinary team. The role involves ensuring client satisfaction and delivering key structural projects within scope, budget, and schedule.

• Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
• Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
• Apply design loading to structures utilizing applicable building codes and design codes.
• Design and analyze structures to meet project specific and code requirements using hand calculations and finite element analysis (STAAD and/or ANSYS preferred).
• Develop engineering design calculation packages, including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Oversee designer/drafters in the development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings.
• Develop construction bid packages that include calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform post‑design activities (review of subcontractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings).
• Perform site inspections at fabricators and construction sites to ensure compliance with contract documents.
• Provide leadership for junior engineers and drafter/designer teams.
• Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines (presentations, reports, design review meetings, training).
• Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing.
• Work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplined team to meet project budgets and schedules.

• BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive structural design experience.
• Proficiency in finite element modeling (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
• Proficiency in building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience leading a small team of structural engineers and drafters.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required for portions of the work.

• PE license.
• Experience designing structures or equipment using ANSYS and/or the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
• Experience with dynamic, blast loading, and UFC codes.
• Ability to perform project management or marketing on small projects.

• Operate a desk and computer for long periods (90% of time).
• Occasional site visits and travel requiring lifting, climbing, crawling in outdoor environments (15%).
• Use PPE and special clothing/equipment during site visits (15%).
• Lift up to 50 lbs.

• Office work (90%); field work and travel (15%).
• Must attend regularly Monday‑Thursday 7:30am‑5:15pm and Friday 7:30am‑11:30am; occasional overtime as needed.
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug and background test.

$70,000 – $125,000 (range includes base salary and may vary based on experience, skills, and market data).
