The Advanced Solutions Group specializes in the design, construction, and operation of unique and complex research and development facilities, including wind tunnels, rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities. Our projects span the automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace markets and have served clients such as Audi, Boeing, BMW, Harley‑Davidson, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Energy.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
- Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction, applying design loading to structures using applicable building and design codes.
- Design and analyze structures to meet project‑specific and code requirements utilizing hand and finite element analysis (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
- Develop engineering design calculation packages, including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
- Oversee the development of 3‑D models and 2‑D construction drawings.
- Develop construction bid packages, typically including calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Perform post‑design activities such as review of subcontractor submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
- Conduct site inspections at fabrication shops and construction sites to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Provide leadership for junior engineers, drafters, and designers.
- Coordinate and communicate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines through presentations, reports, studies, design review meetings, and training.
- Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing.
- Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet project budgets and schedules.
- Required: BS or MS Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive structural design and analysis experience.
- Proficient in finite element modeling (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
- Knowledge of building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and strong time‑management skills.
- U.S. citizenship required (federal requirements).
- Preferred: PE license.
- Experience with ANSYS and/or the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Experience with dynamic loading, blast loading, and UFC codes.
- Capability to perform project management or marketing on small projects.
Physical Requirements
- Must sit at a desk for long periods (90%) and work at a computer for long periods (90%).
- Occasional site visits and travel may require lifting, climbing, and crawling in an outdoor environment (15%).
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Regular attendance is mandatory Monday‑Thursday 7:30am‑5:15pm and Friday 7:30am‑11:30am; occasional overtime may be required to meet demanding project schedules (20%).
- Must pass a pre‑employment drug and background test.
$80,000 – $145,000. The range is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, and market data.
