Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for Senior Mechanical Construction Engineer supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract, at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold AFB, TN. The Senior Mechanical Construction Engineer will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.
Job DutiesThe purpose of the Senior Mechanical Construction Engineer is to provide projects with technical expertise in one or several areas of discipline. Leads discipline engineering specialists in providing technical assistance to construction management.
- Execute the construction engineering specialist program, including exchange of engineering information among the client, design engineer, and project.
- Perform technical administration of contracts.
- Maintain working knowledge of applicable codes and standards for a project.
- Provide technical interpretation of design documents in support of construction managers, superintendents, and contractors and provide specific expertise for problem solving activities.
- Prepare material take‑offs and initiate and prepare requisitions for procurement of services, materials, and equipment necessary to support the project schedule.
- Coordinate the completion of construction activities in assigned systems and prepare punch lists to ensure readiness of systems for release to the client or for start‑up.
- Maintain liaison with the design engineer to schedule and coordinate release of construction design documents in support of the construction schedule.
- Provide marked‑up drawings and information required for the preparation of as‑built drawings.
- Interpret the intent and requirements of design documents; ensure drawings are reviewed for completeness and constructability; and ensure drawings are marked‑up and information provided as required for as‑built drawings.
- Coordinate, obtain, and provide responses to Requests for Information (RFI) as required.
- Coordinate engineering input and analysis on project progress, compliance, and close‑out reports.
- Provide technical and construction engineering expertise required to support the project.
- Provide technical evaluation of bid proposals.
- Participate in pre‑construction planning efforts and development phases of projects, including coordination and implementation of the constructability review program.
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks effectively and in a timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and global standards.
- Effectively develop and apply core skills to the job.
- Travel to attend business‑related matters as needed.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar.
- Grade 10 (L10):
Minimum 10 years of experience in engineering or construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Grade 11 (L11):
Minimum 12 years of experience in engineering or construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret level security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
