Position Introduction

Cimarron is seeking an I&C Design Engineer who will support the TOS II contract at Arnold Air Force Base in Tullahoma, TN. As an I&C Design Engineer, you will work as a member of the NHTF Project Team, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support electrical and &C design.

Key Duties
  • Perform assignments requiring scope definition and variable investigation for Instrumentation and Control System Engineering; support common workflows.
  • Prepare, interpret, or review calculations, drawings, specifications, plans, investigations, systems, or equipment.
  • Participate in:
    • Interface with customers to clarify system/test requirements.
    • Develop system requirements.
    • Design, development, and maintenance of instrumentation and data systems.
    • Design, development, and maintenance of automated control systems.
    • Develop automated control and HMI software.
    • Prepare design calculations, studies, and reports.
    • Review Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams for control/instrumentation requirements.
    • Prepare logic diagrams.
    • Prepare specifications or data sheets for procurement of process instrumentation.
    • Estimate material quantities.
    • Review vendor submittals, provide comments and recommendations.
    • Attend technical review meetings and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in fostering a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
  • Wear company‑issued PPE in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Complete pre‑employment background check, breath alcohol test, and drug screening, including testing for marijuana.
  • Subject to DOT random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Eight years of progressive, relevant engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering from an accredited institution.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Progressive experience with control system theory and design concepts such as controls strategy, algorithm development, math modeling/simulations, calibration, motion controls, process controls, sequencing systems, stability & control, control valve selection, networks & field busses, optimization, learning and rule‑based systems.
    • Design or application of closed‑loop control systems.
    • Experience with feedback control systems.
    • Using PLC, DCS, HMI.
    • PID control systems.
  • Experience with transducers, sensors, electrical circuits, signal processing, and data acquisition systems used to measure temperature, pressure, force, flow, acceleration, vibration, and other phenomena common to aerospace testing.
    • Design or application of sensors converting physical phenomena to electrical signals.
    • Signal processing and analysis methodologies.
    • Analog/digital filtering methodologies.
    • Analog‑to‑digital and digital‑to‑analog conversion.
    • Integration of sensors, conditioning, filtering, A/D conversion into measurement.
    • Instrumentation and data acquisition software.
    • Measurement uncertainty analysis.
    • Instrumentation calibration.
  • Progressive work experience in design engineering plus roles in systems startup, field engineering, or plant operation in large industrial, utility, or process plants.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
