Position: Work Planner (Planner/Scheduler)

Job Overview

Beyond New Horizons LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Work Planner, supporting TOS II, at Arnold AFB Tennessee. The Plan­ner will work as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Responsibilities
  • Build, publish, and status Crew Schedules.
  • Perform planning functions for investment or capital improvement projects, preventative maintenance, repair, and replacement of various distribution systems. Scheduling support is required.
  • Prepare cost estimates; prepare purchase requisitions and expedite delivery.
  • Publish next week’s schedule that depicts craft resources needed by day for assigned crew(s).
  • Coordinate with Work Control Supervisor on schedule priorities for these 2 weeks, including creation of necessary work orders.
  • Build the following week’s schedule of craft resources for multiple crews (not by day).
  • Maintain awareness of outages and/or downtimes that may impact schedules for these 2 weeks.
  • Coordinate with Craft Supervisors/Superintendents and Work Control Supervisor on personnel availability, work status of scheduled work, and document & troubleshoot emergencies or urgent work that breaks current week’s schedule and document reasons.
  • Coordinate with Material Controller(s) and Issuing Official(s) on material needs for the next two weeks.
  • Evaluate assigned area’s crew scheduling metrics for improvements to schedule and scheduling process.
  • Create and maintain craft workload forecasts for identifying current & future workload requirements, as well as identifying & communicating resource needs.
  • Create Job Packages.
  • Evaluate assigned work orders that need planning for scope, details, and requirements. This may include work for projects not ready for execution.
  • Communicate with requesters, engineers, and other knowledgeable personnel regarding identified work.
  • Visit job sites and perform necessary walk‑downs to identify and document all details to develop a detailed job plan.
  • Develop detailed job plan packages for use by craft personnel to improve safety, efficiency, and effectiveness. Job packages include: estimates of crew, craft, man‑hours, and time; clear steps to perform work; tools and equipment; safety hazards and requirements; material or part requirements; coordination with outside crew; downtime/outage requirements; and any existing instructions, drawings, specifications, or work aids.
  • Work with Craft Lead(s), Craft Superintendent(s), or Material Controller(s) on appropriate staging of material or parts for the job plan.
  • Review actual work against original plan and communicate with craft personnel who performed jobs to incorporate ideas that could improve future jobs.
  • Maintain Job Plan Library.
  • Data mine the AEDC Job Plan Library for existing job plans related to the work being planned and utilize appropriate plans to create new job plan packages.
  • Post job packages to AEDC Job Plan Library after incorporating improvements from completed jobs.
  • Develop job packages to populate AEDC Job Plan Library as requested.
  • Participate in improvement projects related to planning, scheduling, and overall work management process.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Applicable technical degree/diploma/certificate, or associate’s degree in a technical discipline and five years of progressive and relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of applicable education and progressive and relevant experience totaling nine years.
  • Able to work self‑directed with limited daily oversight.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, teamwork, motivation, and organization.
  • Ability to write job plans, reports, business correspondence, and work procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with craft personnel, superintendents, planners, schedulers, engineers, vendors, OEM suppliers, management, etc.
  • Ability to learn PC systems, office software applications, and CMMS.
