Job Summary
Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of her training and expertise, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes. This role is conducted in accordance with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Tennessee.
Location:
Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee.
Hours:
Full‑time, 36 hours per week, night shift 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
Minimum experience:
previous labor and delivery RN experience.
- Collaborate in establishing the plan of care, coordinate and implement care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
- Analyze comprehensive information pertaining to the patient’s care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
- Continuously utilize the nursing process to evaluate patient progress toward goals and apply appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
- Employ strategies to promote health and a safe, healthy environment.
- Home Care (Novice):
Demonstrate fundamental proficiency in assessing and evaluating patients in the home setting, conduct primary care patient interviews, assess home environment safety, perform comprehensive physical assessment, and recognize problems to contact primary care provider. - Nursing Patient Education (Novice):
Provide patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty. - Care Planning (Novice):
Anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. - Evidence‑Based Nutrition Practice (Novice):
Search for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions under direction of others.
- Registered Nurse license (RNAs) with licensure in Tennessee.
- Less than 1 year of relevant work experience in labor and delivery.
- Graduate of an approved discipline‑specific nursing program.
