Maintenance Mechanic III - 1st Shift
Job Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic III is responsible for supporting the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of plant equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This role works closely with senior maintenance staff and supervision to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. Job Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function. Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Troubleshoot and support PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley or similar) under guidance or established procedures. Diagnose equipment issues and assist in identifying root causes of failures. Perform electrical work from low voltage up through 480V, 3-phase industrial systems, following safety standards.
Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities to reduce equipment downtime. Assist with equipment adjustments, calibration, and setup to ensure quality production. Make recommendations for minor equipment improvements and reliability enhancements. Utilize company maintenance software (CMMS) to document work orders, PMs, and repairs. Maintain good housekeeping practices and keep work areas, equipment, and tools clean and organized. Follow all company safety rules, policies, and procedures.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and production personnel. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance; may be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or overtime as needed.
Minimum Experience, Education, and Certification:
High school diploma or GED required. 3–5 years of industrial maintenance experience (or equivalent combination of experience and technical education). Technical degree or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. Injection molding experience is a plus, but not required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Read and interpret basic to intermediate electrical drawings and schematics. Demonstrate troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems. Operate facility equipment such as compressors and building systems, as assigned. Identify problems, collect troubleshooting data, and assist in determining corrective actions. Accurately perform basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division). Use a PC and basic software tools, including spreadsheets and maintenance systems.
Follow written and verbal instructions and complete required documentation. Apply a logical, safety-focused approach to troubleshooting and repair. Work independently on routine tasks and collaboratively on more complex issues. Communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers, supervisors, and internal customers. Maintain attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety. Wear and utilize required PPE at all times. Perform work safely and in compliance with all policies and regulations.
Physical Demands:
Remain stationary while troubleshooting and repairing equipment. Regularly move throughout the plant to access machinery and transport parts weighing up to 30–40 lbs. Ascend and descend stairs and ladders; work at heights using scissor and boom lifts. Operate hand tools, power tools, and computer equipment. Move throughout the manufacturing area to observe equipment and communicate with team members.
Compensation:
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $52,600 – 78,900 (subject to change dependent on physical location). Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits.
