Early Career Control & Simulation Engineer

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) invites qualified candidates to join as an Early Career Control & Simulation Engineer in Arnold AFB, TN, supporting TOS II  role sits within the Engineering Solutions branch, providing cutting‑edge technology development to advance U.S. Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will develop high‑fidelity training simulators that emulate real‑world facilities and their control systems. Responsibilities include emulating PLC‑based control logic and physics‑based Simulink models, integrating them with HMI screens, and creating immersive training environments. This position is ideal for engineers passionate about controls and simulation who wish to make a significant impact.

Job Duties
  • Develop, implement, and calibrate control models using MATLAB/Simulink to emulate industrial control logic.
  • Develop and implement physics‑based models to support ground test facility simulators.
  • Convert existing ladder logic and PLC code into functional Simulink models.
  • Integrate control logic models with facility process physics models to create comprehensive system simulators.
  • Develop and configure interfaces between Simulink models and Human‑Machine Interface screens for realistic operator experience.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to gather requirements, define project scope, and ensure model accuracy.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including model design specifications, test plans, and validation results.
  • Support testing and validation of simulators to ensure performance and training objectives are met.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within simulation models and integrated environments.
  • Perform related duties as required.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related accredited field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in control systems engineering, simulation, or a related discipline.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to DoD network and computer systems.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for employment at AEDC.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with physics‑based modeling and simulation, especially using MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Hands‑on experience with industrial control systems such as PLCs (GE, Emerson, Allen Bradley, Siemens) and ladder logic.
  • Familiarity with GE Proficy Machine Edition and HMI/SCADA software such as Proficy HMI.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, OPC, Ethernet/IP).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a first‑principles approach.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
