Senior AP / JIB Accountant

Fuse3 is partnered with a rapidly expanding company that is searching for a Senior AP / JIB Accountant to join their team. This person will be responsible for overseeing accounts payable and Joint Interest Billing (JIB) functions, ensuring accurate processing of invoices, timely payments, and proper allocation of costs to joint interest partners. This role plays a key part in month-end close, vendor management, audit support, and maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards.

Accounts Payable

• Oversee full‑cycle accounts payable, including invoice review, coding, approval workflows, and payment processing
• Ensure proper general ledger coding and compliance with company policies
• Resolve vendor inquiries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
• Monitor AP aging and ensure timely payment of all obligations
• Support process improvements and internal controls related to AP

Joint Interest Billing (JIB)

• Prepare and review monthly JIB billings to non‑operated partners
• Review and code partner invoices in accordance with JIB agreements and COPAS guidelines
• Manage non‑op and partner billing statements, audits, and inquiries
• Track and resolve partner disputes and billing discrepancies
• Maintain accurate records of joint interest accounts and partner balances

Accounting & Close

• Assist with month‑end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Reconcile AP and JIB‑related balance sheet accounts
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and documentation
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls

Leadership & Process Improvement

• Serve as a subject matter expert for AP and JIB processes
• Assist in training and reviewing work of junior accounting staff
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of experience in Accounts Payable and/or JIB accounting (oil & gas or energy industry preferred)
• Strong knowledge of JIB accounting, COPAS guidelines, and owner relations
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Wolfe, Excalibur, Open Invoice, or similar)
• Strong Excel skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage deadlines and work independently in a fast‑paced environment

The pay range for the Senior AP/JIB Accountant starts at $85k/year and goes up based on experience.
