Senior Cost Accountant

Overview

LHH is partnering with our client with their search for a Sr. Cost Accountant. The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate product costing, analyzing manufacturing variances, and supporting operational decision‑making through timely financial insights. This role is hands‑on within the manufacturing environment and also serves as a supervisor to a small team, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across cost and inventory‑related accounting functions.

• Maintain and update standard costs, bills of materials (BOM), and routing data.
• Perform variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and communicate results to operations and leadership.
• Conduct cycle counts, inventory reconciliations, and annual physical inventory support.
• Prepare cost reports, margin analysis, and other management reporting.
• Support month‑end close activities related to cost accounting and inventory valuation.
• Oversee and review work completed by team members, providing guidance, training, and performance support.
• Collaborate with plant operations to understand cost drivers and support process improvements.
• Utilize ERP systems to manage costing data and maintain accuracy across cost modules.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
• Supervisory or team‑lead experience preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP systems
• Excellent analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, operations‑focused environment.
