Overview

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Accountant for a contract opportunity in Tulsa. This role is ideal for a critical, independent thinker who can step in and take ownership of the close process in a highly manual accounting environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in GAAP, the ability to work through complex reconciliations, and confidence in driving month-end close with minimal supervision.

This position plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting within a manufacturing environment, partnering closely with operations and project accounting.

Key Responsibilities

+ Take lead on month-end and year-end close, including preparation and posting of journal entries and accruals

+ Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

+ Perform cost accounting, including labor, overhead, and manufacturing variance analysis

+ Support inventory valuation (WIP, finished goods, excess/obsolete inventory)

+ Manage fixed assets and capital project accounting

+ Review project accounting results and ensure accurate recording in the general ledger

+ Prepare monthly financial statements and provide insight into cost and margin drivers

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls in a manual-process environment

+ Support internal and external audits

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

+ 4-6+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

+ Strong, hands-on understanding of GAAP (must be able to apply-not just reference)

+ Proven experience owning and driving the month-end close process

+ Solid background in cost accounting, inventory, and labor/overhead rates

+ Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems

+ Ability to work independently, think critically, and navigate manual processes
