This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of accounting functions within a dynamic, family-owned organization that has been helping customers build their dreams since 1934.
In addition to base compensation, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus of up to 10% of base salary, based on the achievement of predetermined individual and company goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Prepare and post general ledger journal entries and maintain accounts with supporting documentation.
* Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner with an emphasis on balance sheet reconciliations.
* Perform month-end and year-end closing processes.
* Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory as needed.
* Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register - this includes recording monthly depreciation expense, tracking asset additions and disposals, posting related journal entries, and ensuring the subledger agrees to the general ledger monthly
* Calculate and process bi-weekly commissions - this includes gathering sales data, applying commission rate schedules, and coordinating with multiple departments to ensure timely and accurate disbursement.
* Complete and submit governmental and industry surveys - this includes gathering required financial and operational data, ensuring accuracy and consistency with internal records, and meeting all applicable filing deadlines.
* Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual sales and us tax returns in multiple jurisdictions. Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
* Support annual audits and provide requested documentation to auditors.
* Research accounting issues and recommend solutions.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
* Collaborate with branch and department leaders to ensure accurate financial reporting.
* Maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
* Perform other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
