About the Role

The Tax Senior Associate is a public accounting professional responsible for preparing complex tax returns, supporting tax planning initiatives, and providing exceptional client service across a diverse portfolio of individuals and business entities. This role offers the opportunity to develop technical expertise in tax compliance and consulting while collaborating with experienced professionals, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to high-quality client engagements.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in tax accounting, enjoys solving complex tax issues, and thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, trusts, and other business entities.
  • Collaborate with tax professionals to complete all phases of tax engagements, including tax compliance, tax planning, client consulting, and special projects.
  • Gather, organize, and analyze financial and tax-related information to ensure accurate and timely tax return preparation.
  • Research tax issues and evaluate tax situations to identify opportunities for tax savings and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop practical tax solutions and communicate recommendations to engagement teams and clients.
  • Prepare accounting-related reports and supporting documentation within a paperless, technology-driven work environment.
  • Maintain organized work papers and ensure compliance with firm quality standards and professional regulations.
  • Build strong client relationships by responding to inquiries and providing proactive, professional service.
  • Assist with tax research, planning strategies, and consulting engagements for a variety of industries.
  • Mentor and train Associates by providing technical guidance, reviewing work, and supporting professional development.
  • Stay current on changes to federal, state, and local tax laws, IRS regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Participate in continuing education, professional development programs, and networking opportunities to enhance technical and leadership skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Active Certified Public Accountant, CPA, license or progress toward CPA licensure preferred. Enrolled Agent, EA, certification is also accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of public accounting tax experience.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws, tax accounting principles, and IRS regulations.
  • Experience preparing tax returns for individuals and multiple business entity types.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software, Microsoft Office Suite, and accounting technology platforms.
  • Commitment to maintaining technical knowledge through ongoing professional education.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications
  • Progress toward obtaining a CPA license if not already licensed.
  • Experience supporting tax planning, consulting engagements, and tax research projects.
  • Knowledge of tax compliance for multiple entity types and industries.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior accounting professionals.
  • Familiarity with paperless workflow systems, tax technology, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional client service and maintaining high-quality work standards.
