Position: Accountant I - Crude

Job Summary

This position, in the RPC, Refined Products and Crude, segment, is responsible for Crude Revenue. The role works closely with Commercial and Operations to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition and requires strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform operational accounting activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and apply GAAP.
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop and implement process improvements for better service.
  • Handle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Employ strong critical thinking and adapt to a changing environment.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Prepare various journal entries, records, regulatory reports, and budget information.
  • Perform accounting functions related to customer accounting and accounts receivable reconciliations.
  • Assist with preparation of tax returns and supporting tax calculations.
  • Verify calculations including ratios, percentages, discounts, depreciation, allocations, account charges, and financial ratios.
  • Utilize micro and/or mainframe applications for preparation and verification of forecasted vs actual expenses, governmental/regulatory reports, financial reports, quarterly income statements, and corporate tax returns.
  • Provide information and assistance to auditors, governmental/regulatory staff, managers, employees, customers, and others concerning accounting activities.
Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of formal education and related experience.

Work Experience

Experience with office equipment, computers, and applicable software.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of standard accounting methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software, financial accounting and reporting standards, corporate tax functions, economic forecasting/modeling, and corporate budget functions.
  • Ability to apply math and algebraic formulas.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform various accounting activities, research, and compose reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret governmental regulations, accounting/tax publications, auditors’ requests, company correspondence, accounting software manuals, and legal documents.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information or instruction effectively.
Licenses and Certifications

None required.

Physical Demands

Standard sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds and frequent sitting.

Working Conditions

Well‑lit, climate‑controlled environment with frequent repetitive motion and use of computer monitors.

Travel

Travel within office facilities system‑wide required.

Driving

May be assigned a company vehicle based on tasks, requiring the applicable driver’s license.
