Assistant Controller

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to support accounting operations for a multi-entity organization based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This long-term contract position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to oversee core financial activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and help guide a growing accounting function. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, a hands-on approach, and the ability to lead priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations across four operating entities, ensuring records are complete, timely, and aligned with reporting standards.
• Produce and evaluate monthly financial reports, identifying trends, variances, and areas that require correction or clarification.
• Lead the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reviewing account activity, and completing balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supervise and develop a small accounting team, providing direction, coaching, and support for ongoing performance improvement.
• Strengthen internal controls and work with cross-functional partners to refine accounting procedures and improve workflow efficiency.
• Coordinate audit support by assembling documentation, preparing requested schedules, and responding to external auditor inquiries.
• Work closely with tax and compliance partners to support sales tax and other regulatory filing requirements.
• Assist with treasury-related activities, including monitoring cash activity, supporting banking needs, and helping manage daily liquidity operations.
• Contribute to special accounting initiatives and process improvement projects as business needs evolve.
