Job Summary:
The Project Cost Analyst is responsible for analyzing project costs, monitoring budgets, and supporting project managers and team members with cost control activities throughout the project lifecycle. They perform ongoing forecast updates, variance analysis, invoice processing, daily cost reporting, and budget monitoring to ensure accurate project financial tracking. The role also supports project administrative functions such as purchase requisitions, change orders, purchase order closeout, and certificates of completion.
Job Functions & Tasks
- Analyze project costs and monitor budgets to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
- Prepare and update forecasts, variance analyses, and cash flow projections.
- Process invoices and run daily reports to verify cost accuracy.
- Support project administrative activities including creating purchase requisitions, preparing change orders, closing purchase orders, and gathering certificates of completion.
- Assist with budget tracking, cost tracking, and project reporting.
- Support project managers and team members with project documentation and planning activities.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding budgetary and cost‑related items.
- Maintain accurate project records and track key project information.
- Collaborate with project teams to support effective cost controls and project execution.
- Perform additional project‑related administrative and analytical duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree preferred; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Relevant work experience in utility operations, design, operations, planning, project management, cost tracking analysis, forecasting, project budgets, accounting principles, or construction/maintenance of systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of work processes and procedures in the utility industry.
- Experience with project cost analysis, forecasting, and budget monitoring.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience with project management, project controls, or cost management systems is preferred.
- Certification (e.g., CCMP, CETa, IQCP, PMP, RMP) is not required but preferred for advancement.
Salary Range:
Grade 6 – $74,551 to $93,189;
Grade 7 – $87,633 to $109,554.
