Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Achieves council and department short-term and long-term goals related to camp and outdoor property programs.
- Train and supervise volunteer day camp directors to ensure delivery of high-quality outdoor programming and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Develop council level training for day camp volunteers that meet Girl Scouts and ACA requirements.
- Provide direction and support to day camp directors with program planning and execution, collaboration with co-workers and in handling crises, emergencies, behavioral, and medical response, as needed. Engage emergency action plan. Coordinate the completion of required forms and reports.
- Maintain compliance with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), American Camp Association (ACA) and council health and safety standards and procedures.
- Supports functions of the customer care process. Answers, problem-solving, manages and responds appropriately and timely to all inquiries including, but not limited to email, phone and walk-in customers.
- Collaborate with the Property department to ensure camp facilities meet or exceed regulatory and council standards for safe and effective use.
- Maintain inventory of all Day Camp program supplies and purchase supplies, as needed.
- Track troop and service unit reservations, usage, revenue, and guest satisfaction data to measure success and identify areas for growth.
- Commit to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness and promoting education programming to diverse communities and backgrounds.
- Prepares and coordinates budgets to ensure adherence to approved program events.
- Assists in achieving the council’s retention goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality events, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.
- Cultivates relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support retention efforts.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation, outdoor leadership, environmental studies, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in customer service, or hospitality/event management strongly preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license within the state of employment.
Required
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) products.
- Proficiency with reservation systems, event management software, and Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-first mindset.
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.
- Ability to obtain within the first 180 days of hire the following certifications:
American Camp Association New Director Orientation. - Ability to obtain ACA membership and Accreditation Visitor status within one year.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities at once.
Physical and Schedule Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations as needed.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as the job requires.
Job Description
Summary:
Responsible for developing, planning, implementing and managing high quality and engaging outdoor programming including all GSEOK day camp operations. This position provides leadership and guidance to GSEOK volunteers to ensure all Day Camp programs comply with Girl Scouts and American Camp Association (ACA) safety standards and protocols. The Outdoor Manager also supports troops and service units by coordinating property reservations, processing and confirming reservation requests, and reviewing and approving activity requests.
This is a safety sensitive position.
