Grants Officer
The Grants Officer is responsible for preparing and managing a high volume of competitive grant proposals, reports, and related funding documents that support Family & Children's Services' mission and strategic priorities. This position works collaboratively with programs, finance, compliance, data, and executive leadership to develop compelling funding requests, steward reporting requirements, and communicate program impact to funders. The Grants Officer serves as a dedicated proposal and reporting resource for the organization's public and private funding portfolio.
Responsibilities include researching and writing grant applications, preparing reports, coordinating submission requirements, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the Grants Team.
Position Specific
Duties & Responsibilities:
- General Requirements
- Write, edit, and prepare competitive grant proposals/applications, reports, letters of inquiry, concept papers, and related funding documents.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to strengthen and complete grant proposals and reports, demonstrate program impact, and complete other funder requirements.
- Translate complex programmatic, financial, and evaluation information into clear and compelling proposals, reports, and requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of assigned funders and prospects, leading the planning, coordination, and execution of grant submissions while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
- Grant Proposal Development
- Collaborate with program leaders, subject matter experts, finance staff, data team, and leadership to gather and analyze required application content.
- Prepare application attachments, supporting documentation, and narrative components in accordance with funder guidelines.
- Develop outcome and impact statements that effectively communicate program success.
- Maintain proposal templates, boilerplate language, and other grant writing resources.
- Assist in researching prospective grant opportunities aligned with agency priorities.
- Ensure proposals accurately reflect organizational priorities, program goals, and funder requirements.
- Grant Reporting & Funder Communications
- Prepare and submit interim, annual, and final grant reports.
- Collaborate with program leadership, finance, and data team to obtain and analyze data and supporting documentation.
- Draft impact summaries, outcome narratives, success stories, and stewardship communications for funders.
- Monitor reporting requirements and deadlines to ensure compliance.
- Project Management & Compliance
- Track assigned proposal and reporting deadlines to ensure timely submission.
- Maintain accurate records of grant requirements, submissions, and outcomes.
- Adhere to established Grants Team processes, procedures, and quality standards.
- Assist with maintaining grant compliance documentation and audit-ready records.
- Support internal review and approval workflows.
- Ensure all submissions are complete, accurate, and compliant with funder instructions.
- Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in Grants Team planning meetings and workflow coordination.
- Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement process improvements.
- Maintain familiarity with agency programs, strategic priorities, and funding needs.
- Contribute to shared knowledge resources, templates, and best practices.
- Provide writing, editing, and proofreading support for grant-related projects and special initiatives as assigned.
- Maintain professional knowledge through training, webinars, professional associations, and self-directed learning.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Business, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, or a related field is required. Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
Five (5) years of experience in grant writing, proposal development, and/or grants management. Demonstrated experience developing successful grant proposals and reports.
