Project Superintendent (Water/Wastewater) has full responsibility for onsite production of assigned water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water distribution, wastewater collection and conveyance, pump/lift stations, treatment plant rehabilitation, process upgrades, yard piping, and related civil scopes. Superintendent is responsible for directing craftspeople, specialty subcontractors, and vendors; administering the Quality Management System; assuring conformity to design documents, specifications, permit requirements, and owner/operator standards;
maintaining sequences to meet schedule; conducting jobsite meetings; scheduling owned equipment; coordinating shutdowns, tie-ins, testing, startup, and turnover activities; and administering the jobsite safety program toward an achievable goal of zero incidents. Superintendents are expected to conform to corporate policies and procedures, uphold ethical standards, and exemplify corporate values, with an emphasis on integrity and service. Superintendents report directly to General Superintendent.
- Enforce Project-Specific Safety Plan and ensure compliance with all other Nabholz, OSHA, and project-specific safety policies, including trenching/shoring, confined space, bypass pumping, utility protection, and work in operating water/wastewater facilities as applicable.
- Plan and supervise Crew Leaders and craft activities for water/wastewater construction. Determine method of construction, necessary manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, bypass/shutdown needs, and work schedule. Document actual hours worked.
- Coordinate assigned work of different crafts, company departments, specialty subcontractors, equipment vendors, utility operators, or other contractors.
- Maintain liaison with Owner, Design Team, Project Manager, utility operators, inspectors, and regulatory representatives to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, permits, operating constraints, and schedule.
- Lead in developing and implementing plan of resolution for construction problems, including utility conflicts, tie-in sequencing, bypass operations, testing, startup, and treatment/process coordination issues.
- Maintain communications with Employee Services and/or Production departments to resolve disputes, requisition manpower, and correct safety issues, etc.
- Daily detailed reporting of manpower, resources, safety, work progress, environmental conditions, material delivery, shutdowns, tie-ins, testing activities, and owner/operator coordination.
- Accurately and thoroughly document existing jobsite conditions, active utilities, treatment/process operations, shutdown requirements, and work progress.
- Thorough understanding of architectural, civil, structural, mechanical/process, electrical, instrumentation/control, and engineering plans and specifications related to water/wastewater work.
- Maintain open and positive direct lines of communication among Owner, Design Team, Project Management, General Superintendent, utility operators, equipment vendors, and Subcontractor Team.
