Position: Laborer (Utilities) Oklahoma

Job Summary

Performs tasks involving physical labor at construction project sites. Operates hand and power tools, cleans and prepares sites, digs trenches, erects scaffolding, and assists other craft workers. Ensures safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and maintains a clean job site at all times.

Responsibilities
  • Operate hand and power tools such as air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, and surveying and measuring equipment.
  • Load and unload trucks, haul and hoist materials, and secure job sites each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Assist in identifying underground and overhead utilities before excavating, ensuring all protective measures are available.
  • Maintain a clean job site at all times, pick up all material, tools, and small equipment, and secure the site each day.
  • Keep the project foreman, superintendent, or general superintendent informed of any actions that may affect the ability to perform tasks or adversely affect company operations.
  • Perform other projects or duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, six to twelve months of construction experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to work with equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work.
  • OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to view and understand safety training video.
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual work, good communication skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Interpersonal skills, mathematical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions), and a dependable attendance schedule.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, union affiliation or willingness to join the union, and physical capability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Other Requirements
  • Position requires 8 to 10‑hour work days and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Must be flexible regarding work hours and willing to travel as needed.
  • Employment is contingent upon passing a drug and alcohol screening in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
Physical Demands

Employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. Often required to sit, stand, walk, bend knees, stretch arms, speak, and hear; occasionally required to stoop or kneel.

Work Environment

Employee is exposed to environmental conditions, working near machines and loud noises associated with construction sites, and variable weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, cold, and heat.
