Job SummaryLead, coach, mentor, and train asphalt paving field crews while maintaining safe, productive, and high-quality field operations.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and allocate asphalt crew activities according to project plans and production requirements.
- Manage assigned crews, including scheduling, daily work assignments, and field coordination.
- Manage job materials and work within assigned budgets and production time frames.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and champion a strong culture of safety at all times.
- Monitor and report daily labor hours, materials, and equipment usage.
- Complete required field documentation, including Daily Project Reports, accident investigations, expense tracking, and absence reporting.
- Complete employee performance evaluations as required.
- Lead a diverse workforce and provide hands‑on coaching, mentoring, and training.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and decision‑making in changing field conditions.
- Perform additional jobsite duties as needed to support safe and efficient completion of the work.
- Minimum 5 years of construction experience, with strong asphalt paving experience.
- Advanced knowledge of all aspects of asphalt paving.
- Fully bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, and write effectively in both languages.
- Valid driver's license.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop field crews.
- Ability to measure quantities, order materials, and calculate paving yields.
- Ability to demonstrate and teach safe and proper equipment operation.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl in awkward positions when inspecting or supporting equipment and field operations.
- Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, rain, sleet, and snow.
- Regular work near moving mechanical equipment and exposure to dust, concrete, asphalt, and elevated noise levels.
- Required use of appropriate PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, and high‑visibility vest.
