Role Overview
As a Service Writer – Customer Equipment Solutions (CES), you will handle service and maintenance related administrative duties such as work order completion, technician time tracking, warranty recovery and preventive maintenance currency, scheduling, maintaining equipment files, processing service‑related invoices, handling customer inquiries, and keeping the service department informed about service bulletins and general information.
Key Responsibilities- Work order completions – opening and closing work orders with accurate information.
- Technician time reporting – ensuring all paid hours for work are recorded accurately and timely.
- Warranty management – creating and submitting warranty tasks, monitoring warranty reporting, and closing claims.
- Run preventive maintenance reports and schedule work to maintain fleet currency.
- Handle equipment maintenance issues with a high sense of urgency.
- Keep management informed of customer concerns.
- Properly code all service‑related invoices within the correct General Ledger.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
- 1–2 years experience in a shop or service environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to multi‑task in a busy environment.
- High sense of urgency with respect to customer service.
- Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
