What We Are Seeking Interior Designer

A Interior Designer that supports development of design and documentation. At the Interior Designer III level, this individual assumes individual responsibility for producing portions of design and documentation and may direct junior staff in those assigned areas of responsibility.

Essential Functions

AIA - INTERIOR DESIGNER LEVEL III (8 or more years’ experience) Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, plus eight or more years of related experience. Certification as a licensed professional is preferred but not required. Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support through the entire project. Liaises with Project Manager, Architects and consultants. Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects.

Coordinates with Director and Department Head on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies. Project size differentiates this position from the senior level.

Communication and Collaboration
  • Consistently demonstrates working knowledge of conceptual, schematic, design development construction documentation and construction administration phases on assigned projects. Interior Design III can convey this information to other internal and external consultant team members.
  • Maintains and initiates frequent communication with JCJ team members to sustain proper information flow.
  • Fully participates in designated project meetings, both virtual and in-person. Demonstrates the ability to lead certain meetings, especially those that focus on coordination with the consultant and internal team.
  • Demonstrates proficiency at written communication in email and virtual communication via JCJ virtual meeting software.
  • Prepares meeting notes using standard JCJ formats
  • Maintains an on-going vigilance about self-checking work and conveying questions or concerns to Project team leadership. May perform checking of junior staff level work, when requested.
  • Participates in the formulation of work and scheduling strategies with JCJ team and adheres to established project schedules.
  • Adheres to JCJ established conventions for digital file keeping and assists in promoting this practice to project team.
  • Coordinates work with internal JCJ project team and sub‑consultants.
  • Participates in the preparation and delivery of presentations to clients both physically and virtually. Assumes leadership of selected portions of presentations.
  • Further refines a portfolio in one market sector.
  • Consistently demonstrates thorough knowledge of time management skills required to work on multiple projects of all sizes.
Design, Visualization and Space Planning
  • Consistently demonstrates creativity in design and the ability to adapt design solutions to a variety of building types.
