School-Based Family Specialist

Grade: Hourly 12 | H-12

Position Summary: The School-Based Family Specialist (SBFS) serves as a school-embedded liaison between Tulsa Public Schools, Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS), and families. The SBFS supports student success by addressing non-academic barriers to learning, strengthening family stability, and coordinating access to school-based, community, and interagency resources. This role provides direct support to students and families by assessing needs, coordinating services, and supporting interventions related to attendance, behavior, social-emotional development, and family engagement.

The SBFS works collaboratively with school teams and external partners to promote safe, supportive environments that enable students to succeed both at school and at home.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a school-embedded liaison between Tulsa Public Schools, OKDHS, and families to support student success by addressing non-academic barriers to learning.
  • Strengthen family stability and coordinate access to school-based, community, and interagency resources.
  • Assess needs, coordinate services, and support interventions related to attendance, behavior, social-emotional development, and family engagement.
  • Collaborate with school teams and external partners to promote safe, supportive environments for student success at school and at home.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school degree
Experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in direct service with youth
  • Experience working in K-12 school settings serving low-income students and communities
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, and Certifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
