Position

Description:

Basic Instructor (courses requiring mainly cognitive knowledge)

* Have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience in law enforcement after completing the basic certification course, and be in compliance with 70 O.S., Section 33ll, AND

* Successfully complete a CLEET recognized instructor development school

Specialized Instructor (courses requiring physical and/or highly technical skills)

* Meet the qualifications for basic instructor certification as described above AND

* Successfully complete a CLEET recognized or approved instructor development school in the specialized field for which application is made.

* Specialized Instructor Development involves training in the skills necessary to successfully train others in physical or highly technical skills, through coaching and repetition. Specialized instructor development certification includes subject areas such as:

Firearms Instructor

Defensive-Tactics Instructor

Standardized Field Sobriety

Law Enforcement Driver Training

Drug Recognition

General

* Basic Academy instructors shall adhere to the performance objectives and lesson plans in all cases, except when changes in the law, or other circumstances dictate that more current instructional material be substituted.

* Some positions require assisting in a CLEET Basic Academy at least once every three years.

* Possess instructional techniques and classroom presentation skills appropriate for law enforcement.

Essential Job Functions for all ACD Instructors:

* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and experience in the appropriate subject matter.

* Instruct students in competency-based program curriculum using current instructional strategies appropriate to the subject matter to assure highest quality classroom instruction.

* Effectively manage the classroom to create an optimal learning environment.

* Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, academic progress and grades as required by district policy and certification/regulatory agencies.

* Ensure syllabus, supply list and lesson plans are current prior to each class taught.

* Demonstrate effective people skills, communication skills and professionalism (i.e.

- prepared, reliable, responsible, punctual, etc.)

* Demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to the mission and goals of Tulsa Tech's ACD program

* Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the ACD department.

* Perform all other duties as assigned by management from time to time.

Schedule:

Standard rate schedule for non-regular (temporary, adjunct, substitute) and regular part-time employees

Hiring Range:

$35-$40 per hour depending on class
