JOB DESCRIPTION

* FULL TIME

Oral Roberts University Institute of Design, Experience and Art (IDEA) invites applications for promotion-track Assistant Professor position in 3D Modeling and Digital Animation. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Ideal candidate will have experience with gaming, narrative storytelling and visual communication while demonstrating sensitivity to aesthetics, typography and design. Additionally, the candidate should have an awareness of and an enthusiasm for growing into the emergent field of XR (extended reality) design and development. Opportunities for interdisciplinary development with other academic units, including Worship, Theatre, Dance, Film and Computer Science.

DUTIES

ORU Faculty teach broadly in the curricula of their subjects, advise students, and serve on departmental and university-wide committees. The primary responsibilities of position will include the undergraduate level development and teaching of introductory and core courses in the discipline, and the development of courses in their area(s) of specialization, as well as be responsible for producing scholarship/creative work commensurate with the requirements for promotion.

The successful candidate will teach critical thinking, problem solving, contemporary theory and emerging concepts in contemporary design practice.

REQUIREMENTS

Required Qualifications:

* Terminal graduate degree preferred (MFA, MDes, MGD, PhD), or equivalent degree from an accredited institution, or significant sustained industry experience in, and/or game development. in graphic design or related field, including but not limited to computer animation, gaming.

* Evidence of excellent technical skills in industry standard practices to instruct undergraduate students in Unreal Engine and related software/hardware used in game development and/or virtual production and/or virtual reality .

* Demonstrated professional or research practice and a strong knowledge of modeling and lighting.

* Further required qualifications include expertise in at least one of the following areas: prior university teaching, curriculum development, interdisciplinary collaboration, or industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Strong understanding of UE Blueprints, and Simulations, Rigging/ Animation or Mocap/Retargeting as it relates to cinema tics, games, and/or 3D computer animation production

* Strong understanding of user-centered design, best usability and accessibility practices to shape intuitive immersive experiences

* Evidence of a current professional practice in virtual production or game engines for cinematic storytelling and/or experimental art

* Evidence of professional practice using Python and/or C++ scripting for animation tools and game engines Experience in traditional 2D effects programs, such as After Effects, Cinema 4D or Premier.

* Experience and/or interest in developing new curriculum in game development and virtual production

* Familiarity with Autodesk Maya, Substance, Houdini and/or Zbrush
