Overview
Riverfield Country Day School (RCDS) in Tulsa, OK, seeks a full-time History teacher to teach at any upper school grade level, with employment beginning in August of 2026. The teacher sees history as applicable to real-world situations and connects current events to history. Students learn history through themes and events they can delve into more deeply.
PositionUpper School History Teacher
Primary Responsibilities- Create an interactive learning environment that includes creative lessons and assessments;
- Approach learning with a growth mindset, which involves significant feedback from teachers;
- Provide opportunities for students to enter into academic dialogue through lively classroom discussion;
- Hands-on, experiential and/or project-based teaching;
- Collaborate to design interdisciplinary experiences and coursework;
- Establish regular and effective communication with students and parents;
- Engage in regular professional development and identify growth-based goals;
- Participate in required non-classroom activities, including parent/teacher conferences, faculty meetings, special activities, and performance events;
- Foster a confident and collegial atmosphere within the Upper School and actively encourage interdisciplinary opportunities with other colleagues.
- B.A./B.S. in History or a related field required; M.A./M.S. in History or a related field preferred;
- Ability to teach Upper School History at any grade level;
- Passion for subject matter and for working with bright, motivated teenagers in a rigorous, innovative, college-preparatory environment;
- Agility and flexibility to collaborate on cross-disciplinary projects and assignments;
- Successful high school or college teaching experience in a classroom setting;
- Independent School experience preferred.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear, traverse the classroom and school building, and outdoor areas. There are prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and computer use. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
