Position: High School AP US Gov + Honors OK History + Journalism + Current Events Teacher

SCHOOL YEAR ROLE

Full‑time teaching positions at Tulsa Honor Academy. The role requires delivering standards‑aligned curriculum, maintaining a positive classroom culture, ensuring rigorous content, and fostering student engagement.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Develop a palpably positive classroom and school climate with frequent and authentic instances of shared smiling, laughter and enthusiasm, and a deep sense of joy rooted in achievement and team success.
    • Encourage authentic classroom interactions that bolster student confidence and enthusiasm.
    • Model warm, yet firm, instructional practices that reflect our high expectations.
  • Back‑to‑basics, liberal arts instruction emphasizing critical thinking in ELA and STEM.
    • Build students’ foundational skills in reading, writing, discussion, analysis, computation, and problem solving.
    • Ensure all scholars complete the cognitive work during every lesson.
    • Encourage risk‑taking, academic challenge, and reflective learning from mistakes.
  • Structure‑driven school environment.
    • Adhere to shared rules, systems, and consequences that promote consistency and accountability.
    • Teach and enforce school‑wide disciplinary codes and reward systems.
    • Maintain a clear, consistent daily routine that supports rigorous learning.
  • Team‑first culture.
    • Support and learn from colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment.
    • Partner actively with parents as co‑leaders in students’ success.
    • Model inclusive, all‑hands‑on‑deck communication with scholars, families, and staff.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Classroom Culture:

  • Ambitious Content:
    Deliver rigorously aligned content, use backwards planning, communicate objectives clearly, and use data to ensure mastery.
  • Ownership and Engagement:
    Ensure scholars are deeply engaged, synthesize diverse viewpoints, complete cognitive work, build on peers’ thinking, and demonstrate academic risk taking.
  • Demonstration of Learning:
    Monitor progress, assess learning formally and informally, and guide scholars toward or beyond rigorous learning goals.
  • Commitment to Excellence:
    Maintain collaborative relationships, demonstrate ownership for shared culture, engage in continuous improvement, and receive coaching and observations.
QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • State certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • Prior teaching experience in a school serving a similar population prefers.
  • Charter school experience preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
  • Salary schedule starts at $44,000 for un‑certified teachers; $47,000 for certified teachers. Salary commensurate with experience and school accreditation status.
