Native American Education Instructional Assistant

This position supports Native American Education students by reinforcing core subject instruction across multiple instructional settings.
Qualifications- Tier 1:
Bachelor’s Degree required. - Tier 2:
High School diploma or GED required. - Satisfy Every Student Succeeds Act requirements by:
- Completed at least 2 years of study (48 hrs.) at an institution of higher education,
- Hold an associate’s degree or higher,
- Obtained a National Career Readiness Certificate through successful completion of the ACT, Work Keys Assessment, or passed the Paraprofessional Assessment Test (passing score is 455), or
- Passed the Oklahoma General Education (OGET) Test.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults required.
- Computer application skills required.
- Satisfy all district requirements regarding physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Reinforce core subject instruction for Native American Education students within a variety of instructional settings.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Reinforce mathematics, English, reading, social studies, science, and other subjects.
- Work with Native American Education students to reinforce or remediate learning materials and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
- Assist in the supervision of Native American Education students.
- Maintain a level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as expected of certified teachers.
- Organize, distribute, collect, and prepare materials (e.g., project materials, student manipulatives).
- Collaborate with teachers in curricular areas.
- Assist with a variety of instructional situations.
- Send monthly reports to the Native American Education Coordinator.
- Help with Native American Education–related cultural activities for school site and/or community.
- Follow Native American Education policy as established in the Native American Education Program & Procedures Handbook.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Nine (9) month classified hourly contract.
FLSA QualificationNon‑Exempt.
